Why did you choose this career?




Hello everyone!

Since I was a child I liked arts a lot, I remember that I wanted to be an actress and I was also interested in visual arts. My mom was a painter, so I always had that reference.

For a few years I stopped thinking about what I wanted to study and I wasn't sure that I wanted a profesional career. But in high school I felt the pressure to decide on a career. I became very interested in the humanities, social sciences, history and education, so I thought about studying sociology, history, special education, social work or psychology.

Studying acting was always on my mind, but I was afraid and ashamed to tell people about it. I didn´t trust myself and I thought I wouldn´t be good enough.

When I finished school , I took a year off to decide what to do and take care of other things in my life. Little by Little I opened up to the possibility of studying theather, so I went to a workshop to prepare for special tests. There I discovered that I was really passionate about acting because It made me feel alive and free, and it was a great tool to connect with myself and with others.

My experience at university until now has been a bit difficult because i started studying in  2020 at the beggining of the pandemic, which was very dissapointing, so I decided to put my career on hold in 2021. I came back this year.

Getting used to a new modality after such a long time is something that I haven´t been able to organize yet, but i am still in process.

In the future I would like to work as a theather and film actress and teach acting in schools.

  Hello, My name is Luz Martínez Viola, I´m almost twenty two years old. I was born in Santiago and lived in Chillán and San Felipe when I was a child. My father´s mother is from San Felipe and my grandparents from my mom´s side live in Pelarco. My father is a civil engineer and Works in public proyects. My mom was a differential teacher and self-taught painter. My sister Luna studied biotechnology, she is also a yoga instructor and a diver. I live with my brother Lucas, my dog Cody and my cats Inti and Inara. Lucas is studying computer engineering. My dog is twelve years old and my cats are four years old. Currently I´m studying theather at university of Chile cursing the second year of the career. In my free time I like to listen to music, sing, dance, paint and hang out with my Friends.

A meal of food you really enjoy

  I love chileans foods that have corn, like porotos granados con mazamorra, humitas and pastel de choclo. In all these foods, the corn is ground, they differ in the seasonings added to them for example, in humitas the main seasoning is basil, while in beans it is aji de color. I love the texture and taste of corn prepared this way it reminds me of my childhood and my grandmother. My grandparents live in Pelarco, in the countryside, and they always planted corn, so we harversted it and ground it in a grinder and then we cooked the corn, saving the leaves for humitas. Cooking these meals is very fun for me, grinding the corn, stirring the pot and wrapping the humitas are steps that take time, but they have delicious results. Every year I look forward to the summer to go to Pelarco and spend time with my grandparents, prepare all these delicious meals and enjoy them fresh with my family.
